Halle

Luther stayed here in 1510 on account of an appeal to the Pope. In 1545 and 1546, he preached in the Market Church. There, on 20.02.1546, after a funeral service, his body lay in state in the vestry. A death-mask and casts of his hands were made: these are still in the possession of the Market Church.
